"The promontory of Argentario, facing the islands of Giglio and Giannutri, has always been a favorite saeside haven for Romans. Hotels tend to rather basic in the area so it was surprise to come across the San Biagio right in the quaint town of Orbetello, a narrow strip of land between two lakes connecting Argentario to the mainland. The Magnosi family from Rome recently bought and restored the palazzo, originally a private residence dating back to 1851. They have recreated the feeling of a nobleman's home, not only in the rich furnishings, but also with the many original architectural features of palazzo itself. Some of these wonderful features include the arched entrance hall that leads to small courtyard where breakfast is served, the hight-ceiinged rooms with ornate moldings and frescoed borders, and the central staircase leading up to the thirteen double rooms and four suites." |
